Bonjour. Aidez moi svp!

biz.

Bella (I'm not sure if your post is anonymous unless you are on another persons account now?), I think I understand what you are saying. although it seems a bit extreme. You achieved bad grades and dont get on well with your family so you would like to move to England and study there?

You are very young to come here on your own, but certainly there are many international students who study at secondary school in England. In my secondary school in years 12+13 for 16-18 year olds, there was a girl from Germany who came on her own to England to take A levels. Her english was of a very high standard so she had no problems. You would need to contact some schools in England and ask them if they would accept you. You would also need to find somewhere to live- if you have relatives in England this will be easy because you can stay with them, otherwise you will need a lot of money to buy a house, I'm afraid (usually £250,000 or you can rent somehere for a few thousand a month), unless you apply to a boarding school where you live at the school in dormitories? If you do this, it will still cost you a lot of money for fees.

Here is a website of an english boarding school with a list of fees for staying there:

http://www.queenethelburgas.edu/fees.htm

But perhaps, an international school would be best for you, where students come form around the world and get lots of lessons in english?

Here is one:

Personally, I think it would be better for you just to come to england for the summer and go to a specialist english school where you take lessons in english if you are very interested in English and have a break from your family this way before going back to Belgium to continue at school. If you want to study in England, you will need a high level of english to do well, however it is true that we have lots of polish children and other international children with no prior knowledge of english who become fluent in english after a few months.

Whatever you do, Good Luck!

Bonne Chance.

Alright, I am attending an International High school my friend, and the best for you is indeed to go for one year or more, who knows, in England maybe, even we, students from all around the world are suffocating here in France.

No worries about the language, it only takes two or three months to be in the flow. Nevertheless, you need good grades. But to me, you sound more like into depression or a sort of teenager crisis.

You just need to make up your mind and travel, no worries, it is understandable ...

Good luck for everything. :snif:

That makes no sense to me whatsoever, unless you are trying to say that international schools do not all have the same policy on admissions?

Anyway, to the original poster, if you do some more research on the internet especially on boarding schools in England, you should be able to find somewhere suitable,. In fact, I know a lot of chinese students who went to a boarding school in Dover for 2 years only and their English is great now! They are now at university in England studying Fine Art :snif:

Here is the website http://www.dovercollege.org.uk/isc/

They also have a page on 'anglais comme ton deuxieme langue' - http://www.dovercollege.org.uk/esl/index.php

Bonne Chance encore :snif:

What I am trying to say is that they do not accept everyone.

You need:

- Good grades

- A Fluent English

- Pass successfully your admission test

They have to mark your writing and speaking skills ...

Okay, I understand that, but I dont think its true. As I said, I know several chinese girls who spoke little to no english before coming to England at 16 years of age and now their english is very good. Their writing is not so great but they can read lots! To be honest, as long as you are willing to pay for it the schools probably wont mind who they have. It would be nicer for them to have kids who are particulary bright in one subject that transcends language barriers like maths, or good at english so that their overall grades are higher so the school gets higher up the league tables, but they would much rather take the pupils £7,000 than say 'no, sorry your english isnt good enough'. They'd be losing money otherwise and no business wants to lose money!
