Hi everyone !
I'm glad I discovered this thread !
English is my favorite language and I'm doing every I can to increase my speaking and comprehension level. That's why I watch a lot of British and American TV series (most of the time without any subtitle, but there's still some hardly understandable series, like House M.D., that I need to watch with, at least, English subtitles).
I'm also going to pass the TOEIC in a few weeks, so I'll have a pretty good idea of how good my comprehension skills are ...
By the way, as a student, I completely agree with TDC911, teaching methods in French schools and high-school are just ... crappy ! Learning grammatical stuffs and vocabulary is a good thing, but it's absolutely useless if you are unable to speak or write the language you learn spontaneously !
Also, cremeanglaise, I think you're very brave to learn French ! Seriously, it's such a difficult language that even (most of) French people can't manage to speak it properly :/
I wish I could spent at least one day in UK (I've been to Edimburg a few years ago for one week, and I absolutely love it !), but as a student, it's not easy unless you know someone who lives in it ...
Anyway, nice to meet all of you, I'm pretty sure we'll me very often each other in this thread, and please, don't hesitate to notify me if I do some mistakes :smile2:
Cheers
Baptiste
