Timothy Walter Burton (né le 25 août 1958) est un cinéaste, artiste, écrivain et animateur américain. Il est connu pour ses films d'horreur et de fantaisie sombres, gothiques et excentriques tels que Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Corpse Bride (2005), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Dark Shadows (2012) et Frankenweenie (2012). Il est également connu pour des superproductions telles que la comédie d'aventure Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985), les films de super-héros Batman (1989) et sa première suite Batman Returns (1992), le film de science-fiction Planet of the Apes (2001), le drame fantastique Big Fish (2003), le film d'aventure musicale Charlie et la chocolaterie (2005) et le film fantastique Alice au pays des merveilles (2010).
